December Goodness from Cheapass Games!

Girl Genius: The Works is now at DriveThruCards. The first deck from this exquisite puzzle game was last month’s Coconut Crab reward, and now all four decks are available for sale:

• Deck 1: Castle Wulfenbach

• Deck 2: Master Payne’s Circus of Adventure

• Deck 3: Castle Heterodyne

• Deck 4: The Siege of Mechanicsburg

Along with most of our DriveThru products, the prices on these decks will go up in January (they have already raised their prices to us). So if you are planning to make an order from DriveThru, now is the time!

Meat on Swords: You still have a few days to become a Coconut Crab on Patreon and receive a pre-release copy of Meat on Swords. This will be the first official product from the next phase of Cheapass Games. It’s a press-your-luck card game set at Friedey’s Brazilian Steakhouse. Patrons will get it early, along with a set of coasters!

New Items in the Shop:

As the old year draws to a close, we have added some random new items to our shop. It may or may not be too late to get these things before Christmas, depending where you are, but please think of these ever-growing product listings as our Christmas gift to you.

Included in This Update:

• Card Games: FALLING 2014, The Big Cheese, and two Pairs Decks have emerged from the depths of the basement. Are there more? Only the warehouse goblin knows for sure.

• Cheapass Money: This isn’t the famous black-and-white Cheapass Money (you can grab those files here), but instead some high-quality cards from the tail end of a different card game.

• Dice: This set includes some Cheapass Games engraved dice, as well as some very useful bidder’s cubes for Vines.

• Enamel Pins: The cutest little Doctor Lucky pin, a random Pairs pin, and a handsome Friedey’s “F!” logo pin.

• Embroidered Patches: Add the Cheapass Games or Crab Fragment logo patches to your favorite denim jacket or duffel bag.

• Coloring Book: We loved Israel Evans’ art for Get Lucky, so much that we made it into a coloring book!

In Other News:

Bad Assassin: The next game in the Cheapass catalog might be Bad Assassin, a board-only game that uses the Island Deck. We’ll have more news about this bad boy next month.

10-Die Poker: You can see some DNA from Ricochet Poker (Video) in this early-2000s dice game, created by James Ernest and Joshua Howard, It’s now available in its own PDF at the Ready Room.

Fractured Flat Fixed: An intrepid playtester noticed that one of the regions in The Fractured Flat was the wrong color. We fixed the files, and now the game is exactly the same, but correct. If you find an error in one of our games, no matter how small, don’t be shy!

Cold Comfort Update: The rules and art for Cold Comfort are recently updated. We’re about to send this game to a publisher (fingers crossed!) and we want it to be perfect. Update your files and play the latest version today!

Printable Play Money: A fan asked for the files for print-your-own money, and we obliged with our PDFs from way back in 2011. They’re now in the “Making Your Own” section of the Games Page.

Nominated to be Nominated: Hens and Chicks was nominated in the “Best Combinatorial 2-Player Game of 2024” category by the geeks at BoardGameGeek. Apparently it made the finals, but as of this writing we can’t actually tell where the finalists are listed. Because BGG is an enigma wrapped in itself. If you can find it, vote for it!

A Word From Our Founder:

I’m so pleased to have all the Cheapass and Crab Fragment Games back under one roof. As we mentioned above, Meat on Swords will be the first game of the new Cheapass era, and a few more great ideas are in the works for 2026.

I’m working with major publishers to bring some of our best games back into print, because frankly they are too big for my little shop to handle. Tak, Kill Doctor Lucky, Unexploded Cow, and so many others are looking for new homes, along with many great new games from the Crab Fragment catalog. Some deals are in the works, but nothing is public yet.

As we work to integrate these two brands into one, we thank you for your support and your patience. Happy holidays from all of us at Cheapass and Crab Fragment, and we wish you great gaming in the New Year.
